It was explained that Indonesia is targeting to be able to reach the top rank in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2023. To achieve this, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy collaborates with various parties. In line with the targets to be achieved, the improvement of services or the provision of supporting facilities for Muslim-friendly tourism continues to be carried out. One of the steps taken in this regard is to publish a Muslim-friendly travel guide.

“Our policy on halal tourism is oriented towards adding services. So we focus on the last 18 months we must join hands to enter the first rank. We publish a Muslim-friendly Tourism Guidebook in 5 Favorite Destinations," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in his remarks at the 2022 Islamic Digital Day event, Wednesday (21/9/2022).

Book Model and Content

The guidebook as a move for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to encourage Muslim-friendly tourism is in the form of physical and non-physical or e-books. The book contains information that can guide tourists to identify Indonesia's 5 super priority destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Labuan Bajo, Mandalika and Likupang.

“In general, this book contains about the attractiveness of each of these destinations, then what activities can be done, then what culinary delights are the prima donna, including the souvenirs. Then what makes it different from other books, there are facilities or amenities. Here, we will mention what Muslim-friendly tourist facilities are there,” said Senior Consultant Amicale Lifestyle International, Hafizuddin Ahmad, explaining about this book on the same occasion.

Furthermore, he explained that a Muslim-friendly guide book was made on-desk research aka research without a visit or survey in the field directly. Therefore, his party still cannot tell much about the facilities in the field. "So in terms of attraction, we can't tell about the facilities because we haven't visited yet," he added.

Meanwhile, with the Muslim-friendly travel guide book, it is hoped that local and international tourists can get clear information about several things, such as halal places to eat, worship facilities during picnics, also Muslim-friendly lodging and so on.

"We are launching a Muslim-friendly tourism guidebook in 5 favorite or super priority destinations. We want Muslim tourists, both local and international, to come to these destinations and then they will be guided. Guided, where to get halal food, how the religious facilities are there when they travel, and of course looking for good lodging and all kinds of things," said Director of the Halal Product Industry KNEKS Afdhal Aliasar.
